I am thinking of showing stats of all boxers after the tournament is over. This will help everyone to talk about what needs to be adjusted/balanced. Ok?

Trying to figure out if I should stick to double elimination or a round robin. I like double elimination because it is faster so we can go through many different builds faster and it is relatively fair.
But with round robin there is more testing that can be done with some single build. It is also more fair as you can use points for wins/ties and get the real #1. Of course ever 16 user tournament would take 15 or 30 (if home/away) turns. With ties in double elimination the game will just keep on re-running the fight until one wins.
So what do you think/prefer?

Does the programming structure force it to be an either/or choice? Or is it possible to offer both options?

The idea is that the tournaments sit "open" until a certain number of boxers are signed up, then automatically start, right? Kind of like poker sit'n'gos?
Couldn't there just be an open round-robin tourney and an open double-elimination tourney at all times, and you can sign a boxer up for whichever one you'd prefer to participate in? And when one of either type fills, it starts?

Well, yes that can be done. But I would rather start with one of those methods. I am leaning towards double elimination. You can only have one boxer per division here and with double elimination you can create a new one fast if you don't like your creation. With round robin i would hate making players keep on playing with defective boxers that they really want to replace.

Yeah, double elimination seems better initially, for the speed factor. In the long run, it might be worth making both available and letting people choose, but there's no need to put the cart before the horse, and something that runs quick is definitely better at the beginning stages, when noone will be able to be as confident in their builds as later on.

posted a couple of screens on facebook.
basically we are going to have some pretty large amounts of points for newly created boxers. Boxer physical attribute (Height, Weight are most expensive, non-trainable are 2 points each and trainable attributes are one points each). If you are too fat for your height your footwork can not be high. If you are too tall for your weight your strength can not be high.
Then its double elimination for 16 places. First place gets 5 points....5th place 1 pt, the rest none. Average points per tourney is tracked and there is a new annual award for "King of the Hill". Fights also count against your H vs.H rating. Test fight-engine is used. Right now they are the same, but in future this will be changing.

Sounds good , look forwards to playing with the fighter creator & seeing what kinda of no good jokers I can come up with . Am assuming the creator will tell us/make obvious if a fighter is to small/tall for the division ?

Pav, are there any plans of randomizing number of APs and weights in tournies?
It would be much more interesting with these additions. 50-110 Aps- random weight. I remember you have an idea with invites, probably it's too hard to do. Maybe there should be an option that won't allow creating a tournie fighter with wrong number of Aps, so as soon as one tournie is filled and another one opens, that option won't let manager create wrong fighter in this new tournie.

Hell ye, there will be. I promise. I am just very busy with real work now and probably be so for next few weeks. I am working on early boxer retirement first. Don't want to ignore the non-tourney side of the game. Then I have to add Czech Republic as some claim I am racist again the Czechs since I have everyone else in that corner of the world in the game except them. I also want to add Baltics as I get many requests from them too. Then I will work on tourneys to have invitation based with variable points and all divisions.
