So, how is trading in the game working? Anyone sold, bought boxers from other gyms (AI or Human). Selling boxers that you took from ditches to riches to wealthy gyms can be very profitable.

No, I attempted to place a boxer on transfer list, but he was already too close to the end of his contract... Was worth a try! Would be interesting to see how active the AI gyms are in this regard, particularly as we are still building up human gym participation...

I accidentally signed a promising young boxer to a contract that had a low "minimum release" value, not realizing quite what that meant, and an AI gym ended up buying him from me. It took me a while to find out why my stable was missing a fighter. At least I got some cash, and I ended up signing an even fresher guy in the same weight class who is yet to have a fight, but is from my gym's city and looks promising. The Holloway/Massey grudge match will definitely have to happen soon.

When smaller gyms sign good boxers with solid amatuer creds for example these guys usually want some minimum release clause in case huge gym comes calling. And Phoenix Ace is the biggest. Hopefully it is decent money you got. But the point I was making is that you can actually make decent money in a game by trading boxers that you got on a free and then turned their career around.

I got a rather large chunk of money relative to my cash reserves at the time, but not as much as I felt Massey was worth. It was a good lesson learned, I didn't quite know what "minimum release" meant, so had ignored it in negotiations. Now, while I fully understand why certain boxers will demand one, I can at least take it into account properly when negotiating future contracts. And maybe in six years I can steal back a then-windowed (and much higher ranked) Massey once my gym is big enough to compete with Phoenix Ace. (A manager can dream, can't he?) Definitely, though, while that experience was unintentional, it helped me to see some new possibilities. I like my current stable, but going forward I suspect I'll sell other boxers in the future

I tried to buy a 0-0 boxer for 1k but he ignored my offer does that mean that my gym wasn't good enough for him?
I assume most likely wrongly that if I brought a fighter then would be forced to sign with me

I assumed that as well Ghost and found out that you are buying him.....buy only if he agrees to a contract with you. None of the dudes I tried to buy for free would talk to me...so I had to try other things.

Right. It is like in football. You are buying him from club that wants to sell him. But then it is up to you to negotiate with boxer or he may just not want to go.

That sucks... I don't want to hire any of the other shit 10-45 fighters... I might be a basement gym but there is not way in hell I would drop my standard to let a bum like that in... Here is hoping that winning tournies increases my gym's fame otherwise... I'm going to be stuck in the basement

Actually not bad idea. Winning tourney increases fame to make it easier to recruit better fighters. What do others think?

The junk fighters are not as bad as they look. Some are decent builds but not using the best possible strategy vs their opponents.
Sign a journeyman fighter, schedule first few fights only against other fighters he has beat before. As money rises do same with a few more guys, and you can sign better fighters once they see you are making money.

I went from basement to wealthy rated using world class fighters in a little over 2 game years or 4 mos real time. It takes that long to get used to all the managing, fight arranging and morale manipulation.

Yeah I think so.. just putting in good performances in tournies should be worth something..
I'm already playing another style manager game (MMA Tycoon).. the game is very good, with a fairly larger player base what it doesn't have that I did alway love about webl was an in depth fight planning tool which this game has.
I'm not overly interested in committing to another manager sytle game but am interested in writing a few fight plans (hence the reason tournies have appealed) and if I can sign a half decent fighter then I might be more inclined to steer him through the ranks.. However for me the idea of taking some bum fighter with basically unuseable stats through a couple of fights to get some cash before grabbing another bum and doing the same really doesn't and won't appeal to me.. I'm sure there are others that it does appeal too.
