I have notice that when resting with 50/0/0/50 or even 45/5/5/45, that round is sometime scored 10 - 8 against the resting boxer, despite that not being stunned or knocked down.
Why is this?

page 32 of manual
Round is scored 10-9 if there are no knockdowns or point deductions. The only time round is scored 10-8 without knockdown or point deduction is when one boxer get 10 times more points than another.

I did read the manual, but I missed the significance of the 10 time more points scenario... never related it to rest, which seems obvious now... Seems one's rest lines must be something like 40/10/10/40 to by and large avoid the 10-8 scenario. The 10 to 20 point sacrifice in rest is the price I am willing to pay to avoid conceding an additional scoring round...

Ye, you get more points for power shots so lowering power to 0 would mean you need to increase aggrestion but increased aggression gets you more tired than increase power. So I guess 40/10/10/40 is a decent balance. I would test to see that I maximize my power shot points and minimize jabs.

A few tests in the sim seems to show that. 20 point spread on aggression and power is a safe option to best avoid the 10 X scoring scenario. A 15 point spread is not always enough.
Naturally, if you quite far ahead on the scorecard, then 60/0/0/40 or the like is feasible, but a 10 - 8 score may to some extent actually half your stamina gain in relation to the scorecard.
