I've took on a young boxer who says he is retiring soon and I was wondering if I can change his mind? Or do I have to put him on a good win streak for him to consider staying in the game?

1. boxers do not retire as long as they are winning or if they are still champs. 2. if the boxer is planning to retire because of age you cannot really change their mind. 3. if the boxer is planning to retire because they have not been doing as well as their ambitions are but are still relatively young you can change their mind with a winning streak. The length of the winning streak depends on the level of where the boxer is (national, continental or world) and boxer's ambition. But it is anywhere from 2 to 5 wins in a row.
Also, fighter will never retire while still on a contract. So, only free agent boxers who lose will retire.

You have to cut dead weight like William Hitchc0ck, since your gym is now able to sign boxers of much higher calibre. Life is life... . Next fight for William probably determines if he retires or changes his mind about retiring.

I think he'll decide to carry on fighting, he has a chance to be successful at domestic level now I've dropped him down to welter. Now I'm moving into continental divisions he was top of the list for the chop after I got a guy I think might have flown under the radar with a few gyms.

kool, ye maybe with good morale and fighting smaller boxer he might just stick around. BTW that is pretty impressive that you are holding 4 out of 7 UK champion belts.

Yes I was quite pleased when I noticed that, I'm just glad I'm starting to make some profit out of them. Looking forward to seeing them take a step up in class.

I've been keeping an eye on him and I'm glad he's decided to carry on. Maybe a newer gym can make a few $ out of him now he's on a roll.
