UGI’s B2G Startup Guide
[/center]
The first thing you need to do is read the game manual here:
www.box2glory.com/b2gmanual.pdfOnce you have read the game manual you need to negotiate with boxers in your area to fight for you. Please take into consideration that at this point you have had no success as a B2G boxing manager and getting a boxer to join your gym may take some convincing. Signing boxers out of state or out of country may be nearly impossible and/or very expensive.
Now here is how to get the gears rolling in your new gym.
From the main screen go to manage > scout & sign.
Next, click on Filter.
Check the local box and click on search.
Click on results to see all of the local boxers in your area.
Now you can scout all of the local boxers by clicking on their name. Once you find a boxer you like click on negotiate to begin negotiations.
Sometimes there may be a lot of human gyms in your country and thus local boxers might get tons of offers and get very picky. In those situations it may be better to actually look outside of your country for new signings. Just make sure they speak your language.
You will get a response of:
Boxers name will be contacted as candidate.
Boxers name should respond next week. (remember 1 game week = 1 day = 1 turn)
The boxer will respond with a salary demand or he may ignore your offer. This will depend on the success and moral of the boxer and your success as a manager..
If the boxer responds with an offer you may accept their offer or attempt to renegotiate for a lower salary, more years on the contract etc. If you accept their offer the boxer will be in your gym the next turn. If you attempt to renegotiate, the boxer will reconsider your offer and may accept or break off negotiations and you will have to start the process all over again. As a manager you also have the option of accepting or rejecting the contract.
Note: Sometimes there may not be a cheap local boxer that will sign with you. In that case just broaden the search country wide and aim at signing boxers who are below 30% win percentage. You should be able to find someone to sign for you!
Also Note: Boxers with no fights does not mean that they are easy to sign for start up gyms. They have dreams and inspirations, they have amateur career that is decent. You need to aim for boxers who have lost hope and have nothing else to lose. Look for a boxer on a losing streak and poor morale.
A note on boxers salary
A boxers salary for a startup gym should be less than $250/week (the cheaper the better). If by chance you negotiate with a boxer that is requesting more than you should reconsider renegotiation or reject the offer.
Thing to remember these early boxers are crap so the less you pay them the better off you are. Use them to build money so that you can get your gym to level 2. Then you can go for better boxers that you can actually get titles with. Good bonus to get a bum with good media skill as he will also help with sponsor revenue that you get every week.
Signing Staff
As a manager you can promote your gym, train boxers or scout. You can only do one of these actions at a time. In the beginning you won’t be able to afford staff members, so hold off on hiring any staff members until you start to generate some income. Your main income will be from fight winnings.
So I've signed a boxer....now what?
Once you have signed a boxer it’s time to put on your managers hat and get your boxer into fighting shape so he doesn't make a fool out of you in the ring.
Boost morale - One of the easiest and quickest ways to boost your boxer’s morale is to find out his personality.
From the main menu click on stable
Click on the boxer’s name
Scroll down and you will see "Invite boxer into your office".
From the drop down menu pick one of the speeches and click discuss.
The boxer will respond on the next turn. The boxer may respond in a negative, positive or neutral manner. If he responds in a negative or neutral manner, then pick another speech on the next turn. It may take a few turns, but you will eventually find out his personality and the boxer will respond in a positive manner. Once you find out his personality keep inviting the boxer into your office and keep giving him the same speech, with a couple of wins and some good discussion you will have a boxer with an exceptional moral, which gives you just one more advantage in the ring.
* Note: If you use the wrong speech over and over, eventually the boxer will start to dislike you (his manager) and may go as far as to declare you a foe.
Pick a fight - Picking the right opponent is a very important aspect to being a boxer’s manager. Picking the wrong opponent may cost you a loss or maybe even put your boxer in the recovery room for a few weeks. Here is how I go about finding the right sucker....err..opponent.
From the main menu go to Fights
Fight Schedules
Click on Look for a fight
You will now have a chart with the names of your boxers on the left and names of the eligible opponents on the right.
Write down the ranking #’s of the eligible opponents.
Now from the main menu click on stable
Click the boxers name you want to find an opponent for
Click on his name again
Click on his rank (directly under where his picture would be).
This will bring up the ranking list.
Now scout the opponents whose rankings you have just written down by clicking on their names.
Here are some things to take into account:
Has my boxer fought this opponent before?
What was the outcome(s)?
What were my boxer’s advantages or disadvantages?
Was it evenly matched?
Chin vs. Explosiveness - Does my boxer have a weak, strong or average chin? Does my opponent have low, medium or high explosiveness? If your boxer has a low chin don't negotiate a fight with a KO artist. You are only sending in a lamb for the slaughter. Check the opponent’s record and try to judge if the opponent you are looking to negotiate with has explosive hands or not. On the other hand, if you have a high chin, scheduling your boxer against a KO artist may be just the thing you want. KO artists hate to see an iron chin with more stamina in the other corner.
Negotiate a fight contract - Once you have selected the opponent you feel is the right matchup for your boxer, it’s now time to seal the deal.
From the main menu go to Fights, Fight Schedules, then click on Look for a fight.
That same chart will appear.
Now click on the name of the boxer you want to matchup with your boxer for his next fight
Click on "Contact selected boxers representatives".
Fight contract negotiations have now begun and the opponent’s gym will contact you on the next turn. On the next turn you should have a fight contract to approve or reject in the negotiations section of your gym. You can also try to renegotiate the purse value at this time.
Create your own fight plan To create your own fightplan use "check for errors" button first to get a "save" option.
You can then attach fightplan as default to boxer, or attach it to a fight, one turn before that fight.
