Dmitry Konkov - the supposed future star of Russian boxing has won several international amateur awards with his slick boxing skills. This weekend in his pro debut he learned that pros is a different game. Taking on a cagey veteran Yevgeny Toporov in local school gymnasium he lost a close unanimous decision in a fight that could have really gone either way. Dmitry never pushed hard and did just enough for what he thought would give him a win. In a close fight the decision went the home fighter instead. www.box2glory.com/2027/May/41171.htmIt is too early to write Dmitry off and hopefully this will serve him as a good lesson and no more than a small bump on his way to the top.

A little inside on how judging works.
Each judge has rating from 0-8. Judge Raz always has a rating of 6. The other two roll a random number between 0-8 prior to the fight.
0-blantant for the visitor 1,2-leaning for visitor 3,4,5 - neutral - will usually have some rating as commentator 6,7 - leaning for home fighter 8 - blantant for home fighter
Each round is judged separatly.
That particular fight had Judge Dva at 7 and Judge Tri at 8.

Ahh that is very interesting. I did notice on sparring at times you get judges who score very different to the neutral score. It's good, makes it a lot more realistic and a bit more random chance when playing for points win.

This will also be a factor in the fight plan. If my boxer is at home....im might be willing to "close up shop" a bit earlier than if i was the visitor.....hmmm. this game gets more interesting all the time.
