Background
Boxing faced an uncertain future, following pressure from MMA in early 21st century. Boxing was viewed as fixed and ruined by all of people surrounding it. The millions of organizations, each one with their own version of champions made what once was a great sport nothing more than a sideshow.
Eventually restructuring had to happen. An international organization was created, based on FIFA example used for international football, B2G. B2G ranked fighters using boxrec rankings and defined rules for promotion. It has a clear list of champions in each division. It defined three levels of competition- National, Continent and World. Each level had a distinct champion. B2G changed the way boxers were paid. They were now salaried, like football players.
Where you fit in
You are someone who thinks that he can be a great boxing manager. You have some starting capital with which you can open a gym. You will need to sign your first fighter and probably hire some stuff, like scout, trainer and cutman. Your fighter is being payed a salary, so is your other stuff. Since your only income at this point is boxing matches you want to schedule your fighter to fight to make some money for your gym. As your gym gets bigger you will be able to sign more fighters. You will be able to trade your fighter to other gyms for their fighters or just hard cash.
Game philosophy
Personally I like realism in my game. I attempt to bring a lot of realism in a game. It does make it more complex and bug prone but it is what I like. If you played game like Championship Manager/Football Manager you would have some good idea of what type of game Box 2 Glory is attempting to be. Here is what will be in the game:
-Fighters have detailed statistics, not just physical but mental as well.
-Scouts, Cutman and Trainers will have statistics as well.
-You will be able to bid for all stuff and fighters with other players and AI.
-About AI. AI will run several gyms and often you will be forced to take a mandatory challenge from AI. (This allows me to weed out cheaters)
-You will be making detailed fight plans for each fight. However, you do not control fighter directly.
-Fights will happen as a batch job at around noon GMT . You will get a text report that you can read on a website. If you fight is "televised" you will also be able to view the recorded fight graphically represented.
-Fighters will age with their skills deterioration passed certain age, depending on their boxing career.
-Each real life day is a week in Box2Glory. The dates are identified as follows. Week 2, February, 2xxx. There are always 4 weeks in a month.
-Fighters will have morale, which will have affect on their ring performance. Moral is affected by wins and losses, level of opposition, fighter's career progress, etc
-Depending on fighters performances they will get excitement points, allowing them to get more people come to watch them perform. A lot of KOs, blood and gore, displays of heart and courage, comebacks, flare are all part of excitement score.
-Different trainers are good at training different attributes. Choose the right one for you fighter
-Referees have statistics covering their ability to withstand home town crowd pressure, protection toward fighters, injury stoppage preferences and strictness
-The higher ranked fighter will always fight at home and thus have several advantages.
-There are three levels of experience for fighters. Advantage in experience can allow a fighter with lower stats beat green fighters with better stats.
-Money can be used to upgrade gym, which would allow recruitment of more fighters. Remember that you start out running the gym from you basement and maximum of 2 fighter roster.
-Remember also that when you just start your gym is obscure, so do go contacting top boxers to join it, that is not going to happen. You are lucky if a fighter in top 10 or lowest division (national level) will take your offer seriously.
