i think him ignoring was a bug. I will check
...
It was. I have contacted Frank for a new contract for you again. Lets see what he does next turn...
For now you probably want to cancel any accepts you made for other boxers just in case he decided to stay.

Once I put in relationships it will be easier to keep your boxers. Like if they like their manager or their stable mates and have lower ambition they may stay where they are. You have taken him to the highest point of his career so far but you may have to let him go. Of course if he does not get a contract for some time and losses a few he may be available again at more reasonable rate just a few month from now.

That's pretty immense demands for someone who has never won a title or reached continental level. Even if I negotiated him down to half, he still wouldn't make a profit at this level.
Should national level fighters be a bit more realistic?

sure, I am going to be adjusting as we go. I will check why he asked for so much. Will let you know.

OK. I have adjusted boxers to be more reasonable in their demands if they are still in the national level, even if they are in top 4. Because really it is down to luck to make any profit on national level with boxer that gets paid more than $800 a week or so. That is not to say that all boxers will ask for at most $800, some will still ask for more, but it will be more reasonable.
I think in a future I will have pay raise as part of package negotiations when you sign boxers. - Such as I want my salary to be x now, but if I get promoted I want it to be twice that.

Sounds good! It was really hard to make any kind of real profit at national level, unless you get a ppv undercard which pretty much levels you overnight. This should make the longhaul game viable. Frank lost his last fight to Minghella on split decision... ironically I had Minghella already lined up to replace Frank if negotiations failed, so this has worked out ok My gym value is 49k, which I assume puts me on the brink of a level up and being able to recruit 3 boxers? I've got some questions about this in the About the game forum.

That was surprising loss. I was so sure you will beat him this time with home advantage and previous fight being so close.
About making money at national level. You started with your gym valued $5K and less than a year later it is valued at $50k. And I think you only have one undercard that brought in about $10k. I think it is a pretty decent rate of money making, no? I think being careful and staying within budget by signing cheap boxers can allow gym to make money at national level.

Hmm you have a point - especially as boxer value counts to gym value. I was so close to levelling my gym and then Frank's contract has to run out If I can fire Frank and get Minghella, then I should be levelled up in the next heavyweight round, maybe after bantam depending on the purse from my guy's title challenge. I already have an idea which boxers to go for, there are some real quality ones. It seems like Minghella outdid Frank on powerpunches pretty convincingly this time and fought quite a few rounds on the outside like Frank rather than using the ring. He's just a better fighter than Frank, too much speed, footwork and defence and Frank doesn't have enough size advantage to make up for it. All Frank can really do against good boxers is taunt and jab on the outside with his beanpole body

Parrott has been canned. A sad end, he was the first boxer I signed and earnt me a lot of money. Shame it went to his head and he started demanding the sort of money only a champion can ask for. I'm going to rub salt into his wounds and sign his nemesis Sean Minghella instead

Too bad. But this Minghella cat looks good. Only lost twice in the last 14 fights after shaky early career. Seem fast and durable. Actually, he started to turn his career around after he lost fight to Frank 3 years ago. www.box2glory.com/npc/1135bio.htm

If you can't beat him, sign him It was an error not to put Frank on a 2 year contract, even if I ultimately end up with a slightly better fighter. It doesn't cost much to buy national level boxers out at all, and if you get any kind of success then the margin of profit in your 2nd year can be huge. In hindsight as a starter gym it definitely seems best to make it 2 years for any fighter you can get for >£300 with potential to crack #4th.

Minghella finally signs after weeks of tough negotiations His first fight is for the UK heavyweight title at the Edinburgh Dome. This is the first Cobra Kai fight at a large venue, which is excellent news

Minghella wins TKO 11
Cobra Kai has its first national champion. The Gym has also profitted a lot from the victory and can now afford to add a third boxer.
