Boxers have ambitions. (well most do)
Early retirement is for disillusioned boxers with higher ambitions. They will claim to retire in a year depending on ambition, recent record, their promotion level. It was suggested earlier that it is not realistic to have a ambition 20 boxer with 1-15 record. He should have quit after losing two in a row.
Boxers also have heart.
With high level of heart they may change their mind if they win a fight or two after declaring their retirement. This applies to early retirement as well as retirement due to age. The lure of the ring is hard for boxers will boxing hearts to resist if they feel even a hint of success.
Notes: Boxer can never retire while still in contract, only when free agent. Only boxers with at least 5 fights can retire. Once retiring there is a chance that a boxer will become trainer ,scout or ref.
