After playing the game for a few days, i have to say i really like the way its turning out. There is one thing that stands out to me that in my opinion is holding it back...
The time it takes to sort out negotiations.
When you search for a fighter/trainer/scout/cutman you first have to negotiate via the button. You then have to wait for them to come back to you with what they expect from the deal. It then takes another day for you to amend/accept the conditions. So that's 3, potentially 4 or more (days)weeks to be able to fill your stable and staff. I dont know if its only possible for you to run the script during the downtime each day but if you can run it while the game is live, any chance we can get it down to a 12hr thing or even real time?
I'm fine with the rules on how often you can fight etc but for those of us lucky enough to have exciting fighters from the start, i feel we're kinda limited as to how we can progress. I feel that in real time, at least from my experience as an amateur, that fight negotiations take place over a few hours, or at most a couple days. It might take a little bit longer for pro's as theres a lot of research to be done but having it take 3weeks+ to be able to land a fighter with which to start training, is a little bit too long.
I dont think limiting it is even a way to make sure new players can keep up, as any sort of played time advantage is huge so far. I find myself wanting to play more and more, wanting to have to make more decisions, yet i'm stuck only logging in once a day as unless i want to play around with fightplans, theres no reason or benefits to it.
Any feedback you have on this subject, even if its just to dismiss my ideas, i'll appreciate.
Mike

I am thinking of providing a starting gym one boxer from day 1, it was suggested by others.
Running a turn every twelve hours instead of 24 hours is of course possible, I am not sure what others think about that change.
I could also do certain things like negotiations on different time cycles than fights, that would take little more time to make sure such change does not break anything.

Starting with a boxer in my opinion would distract from putting in the legwork of finding the proper first fighter for your stable. I enjoyed about an hours worth of searching through the database before sending my first negotiation out. Some people might want to be in quicker but i guess thats something you would have to ask about. Running turns every 12hrs is an idea but then thats kind of a kick in the teeth for the people who have got to where they are using the old system. I think its just the negotiations that could maybe be done on that cycle. Anyway, its food for thought. No doubt you'll keep us informed as to what your plans are.

yeah I mentioned this before and I agree - it would be great if negotiations could happen a lot quicker, if not instantly for fighters who are out of contract. I doubt a guy desperate for a paycheck for months would want to mess about when he gets an offer from a new gym.

Indeed, the guys out of contract should be biting our hands off, not taking another month before joining

Before I try to make negotiations to be on different clock I would like to ask you about this situation.
Your have an NPC that is approached by more than one gym. Under current design these gyms would all be able to negotiate with him and eventually he would choose the gym that gives him the best offer/great reputation combination. If I did instantaneous or fast turns for negotiation that would go away and whomever got to the boxers first would get him. I feel that would take something away from the fun. It almost seem like I should have two different ways , one for bums that noone wants and one for fighters in high demand.

Theres a large enough window there for people to throw contracts together and not miss out on everything. Plus it would make it slightly more interesting because of the time differences. The US would get time to contact fighters when the majority of the UK are asleep and vice versa. Makes it a little more realistic in my eyes.

Let me think about it. I think it is good point about negotiations taking too long. But I also want to make sure everyone has a change to participate in negotiations no matter where they live. Perhaps 24 hour main cycle and 8 hour negotiations. I will wait for others to comment.

yeh obviously you need more opinions on the matter before making a decision. i really think having negotiations on a 6/8hr timer would help the realism factor though. especially with the timezone difference that i mentioned. that way people from all over the world have times where they'll get the pick of the bunch and at other times might get left with bums. it's kinda how i imagine it working in real life. it is a dog eat dog world after all

Forgot to mention that negotiations with human run gyms (trades and fights) are always instantaneous.

yeh i saw that already. the once a week fights i can deal with, as obviously the server isnt exactly nasa quality and it makes sense to try and run a specific weight category on a certain day, helps routine. just the filling of your stable and hiring trainers etc takes forever currently
