What did/do you find the most challenging early on? How can I made the game easier to pick up for new users?

honestly the only thing i had a problem with is the time it takes to settle negotiations. everything else is straight forward. there could maybe be a few extra shortcuts or things to click to make navigating easier but thats nitpicking.
oh and as someone else has mentioned in another thread, being able to cancel negotiations, rather than just leave them with amended offers would be a godsend. its peace of mind in case you've offered a contract to the wrong guy and they accept.

Posting the sample fight plans has helped a lot - the AI has pretty complex ones even at national level, so in the early fights it was pretty frustrating putting together what looked a good plan and getting bulldozed Having stuff to base your own plans or to use against yourself in sparring is great. I'd add a link to that forum in the help file, if it's not in there already.

Well a game like this will have a steep learning curve for new players basiclly because of the fight planning process. Learning how to control stamina, when to rest, when to up aggression etc. This can be a very daunting task.....not everyone can write a program, which a fight plan basiclly is really. Learning all the styles available and when to use them. Understanding the matchups and which matchup will favor your boxer. Which opponents to avoid because of unfavorable matchups. Then of course there is scouting. Being able to go through your next opponents previous bouts and finding his weakness or tendencies and how to exploit them. I played a simialr game to this one for quite a long time, so im able to do all that fairly easily. Although my record may prove otherwise My learning curve has been quite low because of previous experience, but a new player will find a game like this frustrating at first and building up slow. Players today want a warcraft zerg raid and become impatient....so player retention may be low. its just the nature of the beast. That is why it is important to have a good forum community that is willing to help new players get their gym going in the right direction very quickly. Once a new gym starts to become successful they will stick around.

I think I will make the game simpler for new folks. Just have some basic fightplans for them to choose from straight away. They can modify them later. Making AI boxers at national level "dumber" with their fight plans to get new players encouraged. Also starting with more $$ early on can be good.

Yeah giving players fightplans upfront will help new players a lot, as well as dumbing down the AI plans a bit.
Fighting against other humans should usually be the most challenging thing imo, at least at national and maybe continental level. World Class AI's could stay though.

I gave all players 6 fightplans. These will be given to all new players from now on.

Can you increase the fight plan limit a bit, to say 15? These 6 have pushed me over it
