Maybe scout/work out where your opponent is unbalanced ( poor ) in a certain stat you're better in ( so if you're stronger clinch/inside him till he falls apart ) ? If the opp looks to be quite explosive keep your guard higher if not let it down a little maybe & go from there . Sim the fight a few times & see when/if you need to chase score & go from there ? If no time for a proper scouting reading the other guys past fights can give clues as to where he might be weak ( if 9/10 of his opponents had a speed advantage & you're taller then consider using counter etc ) ? Still new & managing crap boxers craply so might be talking rubbish & disinformation OFC

with a balanced fighter you may not have any real advantage or disadvantage, so you may have to do some homework on your opponents. But, if the sim is balanced a balanced fighter may be very successful, they just take a little more work. Also, there are other things you can do as a manager to make sure you have an advantage somewhere.
1. Morale - Find a boxer with poor morale, esp if your boxer has good morale. This makes a difference. Try it in the fight sim. Create 2 equal boxers with the same fight plan and give 1 boxer poor (1) morale and the other great (5) morale and the boxer with great morale will always come out on top.
2. I really dont worry about my boxers explosion. if you grind down any boxers stamina down low enough the KO will happen. Instead worry about your boxers chin and your opponents explosion. If you boxer has a low chin DON'T schedule him against a KO artist....you're just asking for trouble. you can do it, but it may take a lot of work. On the other hand, if you have a high chin, scheduling your boxer against a KO artist may be just the thing you want. KO artists hate to see an iron chin with more stamina in the other corner.
3. Scouting - try to find and schedule an opponent as early as possible and get a scout on him. you may find that your opponent has a very low attribute. compare the scouting report to your boxers attributes. if you have a strength advantage you may want to use inside and clinch. if you have a speed advantage counter and feint (if stamina is sufficient). A footwork advantage? use ring and ropes. Also, check to see if your boxer has fought that opponent in the past (cntl + F works great here) and read the fight report. any advantages may be right there in the report.
I hope this helps.
