How about restricting certain tournaments to newcomers & gyms with HvsH ratings below 1000 (or 950)? I think the less successful gyms would be attracted to these & as a consequence the standard of the other tournaments would go up. that's clever. I think i will do that.

Here is whats coming.
1. Some tourneys will be for "greenhorn" managers chess ranking 1000 and below. 2. Pro tourneys - fight for real $$ 3. Super tourney at year end of the managers with most tourney points in a year for the coveted B2G World Cup.

Well done Pav. I'm impressed with the amount of work recently. Another question. Do the tournament winners still get a gym status level improvement? I know they did initially, but not having actually won one, I'm not sure anymore. If they do, will this be the case of "Greenhorn" winners? Just wondering if this is appropriate. Would it be too awkward to have the "Greenhorn" tournament differ in this way?

Would it be too awkward to have the "Greenhorn" tournament differ in this way? Greenhorn will not get gym status level improvement for winning. But they will get money, just half of regular tourney. They will also get Annual Tourney Points (ATP) to allow them to qualify for world cup. Just not as many points. For standard tourney it is 1st place- 5 point and so on until 5th place 1 point. For greenhorn only top 3 make points. (1st - 3 points...3rd -1 point) . Of course winning in greenhorn tourneys would likely push the player over 1000 chess ranking and thus not being able to compete in the next greenhorn tourney.

Good work/laziness, Ghosts. With a little luck sometimes, but I did not doubt that it can be done, I just hate not to change FPs, it's a WeBL's inurement.
I wrote a small help file- Ray edits it now to correct my perfect english- in which I said that a manager, who understands how to create a normal fighter + uses suited style, can easily win a lot of fights with 1 line FP. I'd like you to give me an example of this. A tournie won by 1 line FP. I can join you too for more fun.

Join this next tourney then - Punchy/anagram is in it!!!
I have absolutely no doubt in the world that most/all of the ex-webl players could have won all of those tourney's I was involved in with 1: 0/20-B/40/40 {ropes} as the plan.
No-one would win a tourney with a 1 line plan if other WeBL players were in it.. Because as soon as you have 2 decent builds fighting each other then it's impossible (unless of course there is some horrible mismatch style wise)
@pav the other thing I would add about these new tourney's is you reduce the maxium points available.. I think it would have been a good idea to leave the maximum points at the level of previous tourney's but then have them with lesser amounts - I mean the tourny I have just entered gives me 137 points.. It's way to much

It's way to much I look forward to it Ghosty although I never had a great record against you in WeBL...I completely agree about setting the points limit lower as 137 points is crazy as it allows you to max out in more than one fighting stat if you choose to and that does not force managers to make tough choices when building their fighters...

Actually the range is 60-149. I agree that it is more fun to fight with fewer points. But tourney are suppose to help us find balance for all kinds of fights. From local bums to world champs fights that very well could have many attributes over 15. I can make change to go from 50-124 instead along with explosiveness costing half of what it does now. With 50 point available it will be really interesting builds out there.

I understand wanting to test the elite fighters too but while the non fighting stats are virtually meaningless it just means that super builds that will almost certainly never be found in the game will be tested. Less points means more realistic builds...

Agreed 100% - I haven't fought on the real stage in the main game yet - But if fighters at World level are pushing 130 points in just the fighting attributes I question the need to even have on the extra add-ons - However if they are pushing 140 points including having lost of poinst in flare etc etc then that's fine. I assume anagram that we are going to have almost identical builds anyway - I may even have to write a new plan.. hahahaha

Missed that tournie and it's good. I guess it should be a single competition, no reason to do it together.
