New tourneys are here! All new tourneys (starting with Minneapolis one) are using updated fight engine. You can test with updated fight engine by selecting Tourney rules check box on the Fight Sim page. Here are the changes on updated fight engine. 1. Bug fixed for resting if you apply percentage towards resting it will now work right and usually give better. 2. Counter style is more effective when you have advantage and more damaging when it backfires box2glory.proboards.com/thread/556/state-fight-engine?page=53. The home fighter will not have bonus anymore. This was never intended to happen but sometime it woudl happen when certain styles were used box2glory.proboards.com/thread/574/home-away4. Also I noted that tourney sim has higher explosiveness effect vs standard game (easier to KO). I will leave it like this for now as I guess you all knew this. But be sure you use the right version of engine (the check box on fight sim) to see if you stunned someone or got stunned in tourney vs. main game. This will change once the last old style tourney finishes its run. The explosiveness effect for new tourneys will be lowered to match the main game.

It will be really interesting to compete in different weights with different points amounts, thanks Pav.
As for Expl I never noticed that it worked different. I tested it several times with sim (not sure what mode it was, tournie or main game one). As soon as I saw I can't deal with it, I just stopped thinking about it. I very rarely face expl fighters to be bothered with this. To notice that one needs to run several Expl fighters here and there to have info to compare.

I think lowering the effect of explosiveness is absolutely detrimental to the chances of them being effective -
8 chin provides more than enough protection which is in my opinion way to low...

I trust you, Ghosts. So instead we will keep it as is in tourneys and move it into a game when we move the tourney engine there hopefully soon. I hope everyone will like the new tourney engine and we can move it to make game quicker then last time. It is a smaller scope of change as well this time.

Ups, I have not even taken part in one yet. But I'll look with fight sim later.

Can't tell yet - the fights I have been in are one sided beat downs..
I understand you have seeding for them now - but if no other managers of note join the tourney then the seeding doesn't matter..

How does the seeding work?

#1 vs #16. #2 vs #15. etc.
You can see on tourney pages. Seeding is based on HvsH (chess rankings).

Ok. When I heard seedings I thought there might have been seperate tournaments for different levels of gym. This way newcomers & lower ranked would get a chance of success. Had this idea been talked about before. If not what do you think?

Yep, I understood it the same way. I thought those additional names would be about gym levels not weights.

the names are about number of max. points to distribute. But I can have different tourneys based of chess rankings. Just would take longer to fill them up. That is not in a game today.

I think that is the way you should go.. I think the last 4 tourney's I have been in I have walked through undefeated without losing a fight and that's purely because for some reason I'm not getting any other managers of note.

Yep, I was thinking about walking all tournie on one FP, it's a challenge at least.

How about restricting certain tournaments to newcomers & gyms with HvsH ratings below 1000 (or 950)? I think the less successful gyms would be attracted to these & as a consequence the standard of the other tournaments would go up.
