For tourneys that start in next year the speed styles will be more effective and defense will cost only 1 point.

OK, let's look at it. Only in tournies? The game mode remains the same? So to test it I'll need to activate the tournie mode, right?

Tourney after the one that is filling up now (military Paris The King of the Ring) will have these changes:
counter and feint style will be made stronger defense attribute will be made stronger defense will cost 1 point instead of 2.
So there will be different fight engine for tourneys vs. regular game. You will have to use "tourney" check box for fight simulation as appropriate.
If things look good these changes will eventually be moved to the full game.

Tourney switch is made. You can now try new "tourney" check in fightsim. These rule will take place in tourney that is filling up right now. -Barcelona Diego Corrales Memorial for schoolboys.
If anyone has time to play let me know how it feels. Thanks

Just had a quick play with the new tournie sim and it is very, very different. Counter has been strengthened for sure but it seems to me as though other things may also have been tweaked as I am getting some very surprising results when running my usual basic tests...It looks to me as though strength has been dialed down as it is no longer the dominant stat...

what has been tweaked is the defense and counter and feint. Nothing else. Do you think defense is resulting in the strength being less effective?

do you think I should dial it down a little?

What is odd is that ropes is killing clinch, that is why I thought you'd tweaked STR...

What is odd is that ropes is killing clinch, that is why I thought you'd tweaked STR... perhaps a side effect of defense change. i will decrease the defense change halfway between to see how this will change things.

I think i made change too big, i like more gradual adjustments and Punchy finding worried me. I lowered the defense change. Hopefully this will help.

I have had a quick play with counter vs ropist at the current tournie weight i am in (heavy), i found the counter style is slightly more effective now but becomes less effective when you add points into defense because you need to take points off of the main stats. I will try some other styles when i get some more time.

Can I ask Pav, have you changed speed itself or counter and feint as styles? The reason that I ask is height is now playing a very significant role when using counter, even a modest movement in height is producing a very significant swing...

The reason that I ask is height is now playing a very significant role when using counter, even a modest movement in height is producing a very significant swing... no, just changed style effects. of course height is part of the calculation - webl.vivi.com/webl/gory-details.html ------------- Counter-Punching A faster or taller fighter waits for his opponent to attack and then counter-punches. The counter-puncher gains +1 STR. If the fighter's SPD+HGT is greater than his opponent, then 33% of this advantage is added to his AGL, and 33% is subtracted from his opponent's AGL (but his opponent's AGL is never reduced below 50%). The counter-puncher loses 15% of his AGG. This does not count towards fatigue, or towards RST. ----------------------
